Abstract

This article aims to identify tools which can facilitate knowledge management in companies and other organizations as well as the related tasks. In this context, tools are instruments and procedures which support the processes of knowledge management and are grounded in particular findings of educational and psychological research. In the first part of the paper, different levels of application of the tools are considered. The tools can be used at the level of organization or at the level of the person with respect to cognitive, motivational, and social aspects. Additionally, the structural conditions of the organization have to be considered. Consequently, five different domains of application are distinguished according to results of action research that investigated typical issues of knowledge management. These issues are: (1) diagnosis, (2) explication, (3) generation, (4) communication, and (5) coordination of knowledge. In the second part, 21 knowledge management tools using these categories are described in detail. After an introductory example the focus is then on the methodologies and areas of practical application, supplemented by further information and suggested literature.

Abstract

Der vorliegende Beitrag beschäftigt sich damit, durch welche Hilfsmittel das Wissensmanagement in Unternehmen und anderen Organisationen sowie damit zusammenhängende Aufgaben erleichtert bzw. bewältigt werden können. Hilfsmittel sind dabei Instrumente und Verfahren, die Prozesse des Wissensmanagements unterstützen und dabei insbesondere Erkenntnisse der pädagogischen und psychologischen Forschung zur Anwendung bringen. In einem ersten Teil werden die Ebenen betrachtet, auf denen derartige Instrumente zum Einsatz kommen können. Sie können sowohl auf der Ebene der Gesamtorganisation wie an kognitiven, sozialen oder motivationalen Aspekten der Person ansetzen. Bei der Anwendung müssen außerdem strukturelle Bedingungen der Organisation mitbetrachtet werden. Schließlich werden in Anknüpfung an Ergebnisse des Action Research-Ansatzes, der typische Themen des Wissensmanagements ermittelt hat, fünf Anwendungsfelder für die Instrumente unterschieden. Sie betreffen die Diagnose, Explizierung, Generierung, Kommunikation und Koordination von Wissen. Im zweiten Teil werden schließlich - dieser Einteilung folgend - 21 Instrumente des Wissensmanagements konkret beschrieben. Nach einem einführenden Beispiel stehen dabei jeweils die praktische Anwendung, ihre Vorgehensweise und ihre Bereiche im Mittelpunkt, ergänzt durch weitere Informationen und Literaturhinweise.
