Abstract
Trio cases (mother, child and potential father) are usually standard cases in paternity testing;however, because of possiblemutational events, which could not be explained by one or two stepmutations, many more examinations had to be carried out in the presented case example. Further analyses, including the verification of the autosomal analysis results with another kit, the sequencing of one locus and the X-chromosomal analysis of all three persons had to be performed. Only by including all these analyses could this trio case be concluded with the result "paternity practically proven".
