Abstract

Bone health in cancer patients plays an elementary role in oncological care. Bone metastases are among the most common metastases and cause clinical problems such as pain, pathological fractures, and tumor-induced hypercalcemia (TIH). Furthermore, treatment-associated osteoporosis is important due to the associated morbidity and mortality. Medical treatment consists of antiresorptives at different doses. In case of bone instability or incident pathological fractures, radiotherapy and surgery are needed. The complexity of bone health in tumor patients requires close interdisciplinary collaboration between oncologists, radiologists, radiotherapists, surgeons, endocrinologists, gynecologists, and other specialists.
