Abstract

Drugs are used to treat diseases or alleviate symptoms with the aim of restoring performance. On the other hand, regardless of whether the underlying disease continues to affect performance, undesirable drug effects may occur until the conditions for driving of vehicles are no longer met. Various psychotropic substances also have a potential for dependence. For doctors and patients there are recommendations on how to behave during drug treatment, and the suitability for driving may have to be checked in a medical report or a medical psychological examination. Illness, medication and compensation possibilities must be weighed against each other.
