Abstract
The question how organizations ought to act and react in an increasingly digitalized world will likely continue to occupy practice and research alike for the next couple of years, if not decades. With ever new digital technologies emerging, established organizations are forced to rethink their way of conducting business and need to undergo digital transformation in order to stay competitive. Time and again, organizational culture has been highlighted as key prerequisite for a successful digital transformation of firms – after all, technologic-related processes often fail due to human factors. The call for a digital culture change is therefore omnipresent, however the process of such is not trivial. This dissertation therefore explores culture change in the context of organizational digital transformation. The book comprises three qualitative-empirical studies that examine the concept of digital culture, the design of digital culture change programs, and the resulting implications for the IT function. Based on these empirical results, this book provides a discussion on recurring themes and best practices in the management of digital culture change and thereby addresses an integral aspect of the organizational digital transformation.
