Abstract
In L'Homme revolte Camus developed an enigmatic "Mediterranean philosophy". In this paper it is shown how Camus saw in this philosophy his answer to the "revolt" of the 19th and 20th century Furthermore, it is a philosophy which has apolitical background in French politics, which hitherto has been overlooked.
