Abstract
The fulminant course of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) can lead to short bowel syndrome (SBS). Pediatric surgeons are the key players within the multidisciplinary team conference as their interventions can decisively influence the course of the NEC and even the SBS;therefore, precise knowledge of both disorders and the appropriate therapeutic options are crucial in order to make the best possible decision for the patient.
