Abstract

HbA(1c) is an important biomarker for diagnosis and therapeutic control of diabetes mellitus. The reliability of the analytical methods used in medical laboratories is thoroughly verified within the quality assurance of the internal and external quality control. The use of commutable, fresh whole blood as control material in ring trials for HbA(1c) will considerably improve therapeuticmanagement and patient safety in the future.
