Abstract

This paper presents research on an organizational intervention aimed at employees with disabilities. Qualitative fieldwork was followed by a quasi‐experimental design with two non‐equivalent no‐treatment control groups using short Time Series (2005 to 2015). We used hierarchical non‐nested negative binomial regression with a lagged outcome variable to assess the impact on absence from work caused by illness and injuries. We compared the data of employees with disabilities who participated in the intervention with those who did not, and with employees without disabilities. We found strong evidence of a reduction in absence due to illness of employees with disabilities, and evidence, although weaker, of reduced absence due to injuries.
