Abstract
The hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP), in Europe called exogene allergic alveolitis (EAA), must be considered in the differential diagnosis of chronic respiratory illness in children of all ages. Major antigens in childhood are feathers and fungi. Familial cases can be expected. Treatment is often, but not always easy. Fatalities are observed every now and then. All diagnosed cases should be included into long term follow up in registries (www.childeu.net). A pilot study of a randomised clincial trial in children has been started and may be re-activated easily.
