Abstract

CEUS allows reliable detection and excellent assessment of endoleaks after EVAR and in some cases provides more detailed information than CT angiography since it is a dynamic examination. CEUS has comparable sensitivity and specificity to CT angiography but does not have the same disadvantages, in particular nephrotoxicity of iodine-containing contrast agent and the use of ionizing radiation. In this regard, CEUS can be viewed as a superior alternative to CT angiography. CEUS is also successfully used for treatment monitoring in the interventional treatment of endoleaks. Image fusion is currently used as a further examination in patients with an unclear endoleak in follow-up or in the case of a discrepancy in the findings of the different examination methods and for ultrasound-guided EVAR. Moreover, interventions for treating endoleaks can be performed under ultrasound guidance.
