Abstract

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the most frequently injured structures of the knee joint, whereby the injury is typically caused indirectly. Most ACL injuries occur during sporting activities, usually from anon-contact event. Reports of tears of the ACL as aresult of acriminally relevant physical altercation with direct trauma to the knee joint are rare.An ACL rupture in a26-year-old man during a physical altercation was apparently without doubt attributable to afrontal kick by one person according to his description of the injury mechanism and based on the medical charts;however, the analysis of video recordings made it possible to establish the true injury mechanism and to identify the actual perpetrator.
