Abstract
From 2005 until his death in 2016 Thomas Ricklin was the head of the "Seminar fur Geistesgeschichte und Philosophic der Renaissance" and professor of history of Renaissance philosophy at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitat in Munich. The present note outlines Ricklin's outstanding and unorthodox method as a scholar and teacher of humanism and Renaissance intellectual culture.
