Abstract

Chronobiology deals with rhythmical biological processes. This review discusses circadian rhythms, the aspect of chronobiology most important to humans. The circadian rhythm measures and processes the 24h day, relaying timing information to the entire organism to synchronize it with the day outside of the body. The conceptual parts of the circadian clock are presented and exemplified in the clinical context.
