Abstract

We have investigated the ionization and fragmentation of a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon molecule, fluorene (C13H10), upon proton impact with energy 250 keV. Various ionization and fragmentation products have been identified. Hydrogen-loss process from singly and doubly ionized parent molecules has been found to be a dominating channel. In case of singly ionized molecule, up to three H-losses have been observed. However, two H-loss ion has not been observed. For the doubly ionized molecule up to four H-losses have been observed. The ratio of doubly to singly charged parent ions are found to be quite high compared to the atomic targets, such as, He and Ne.
