Abstract

The article focuses on the activities of Academician Alexander Chubaryan as a researcher, organizer of science, inspirer and participant in various forms of international collaboration of historians. It is shown that the problem of Russia and Europe has become a cross-cutting topic of Alexander Chubaryan's research over many decades of his fruitful scientific activity. An excursion into the history of scientific and cultural ties between Russia and other European countries, primarily Germany, is made. Special attention is paid to the activities of the Russian-German Commission of Historians, in particular, the publication on the initiative of Alexander Chubaryan of the textbook on Russian-German history.
