Abstract

Interactive Digital Testimonies (IDTs) have emerged as a novel medium within Holocaust Education, offering new ways to engage with survivor testimonies through advanced technology. This article presents a comparative analysis of IDT exhibits focusing on Holocaust survivor Eva Mozes Kor (1934-2019). Through observational case studies and staff interviews at three U.S. locations—CANDLES (Children of Auschwitz Nazi Deadly Lab Experiments Survivors) Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Terre Haute, a special exhibition (Eva Kor from Auschwitz to Indiana) at the Indiana Historical Society in Indianapolis; and the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum—this paper aims to explore the consistency of IDT implementations, their impact within museum settings, and formulate recommendations for their effective presentation. By addressing the varied implementation strategies, visitor interaction modalities, and educational impacts of IDTs, the paper contributes to the broader discourse on Holocaust Education and the use of digital media in historical and civic education. Insights from this research offer a framework for future comparative analyses of digital media exhibits and underscore the potential of IDTs to enhance educational experiences in Holocaust Education and beyond.
