Abstract
The Pauline Epistles were translated into Arabic along with other books of the Bible to fulfill the need of Christian communities that gradually adopted Arabic after the rise of Islam. Translated and copied over and over again, the Arabic Pauline Epistles now survive in more than 240 manuscripts that have been divided and scattered throughout different libraries and museums. Some of these manuscripts bear the same version of the Arabic Pauline Epistles in different recensions. This paper draws together all that is known concerning one version of the Arabic Pauline Epistles extant in three recensions distributed over six manuscripts (Sinai, Ar. 155; London, British Library, Or. 8612; Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Ar. 6725; Sinai, Ar. 73; 159; and 160); giving an overview of the differences between the three recensions of this version as well as the development that took place over the centuries in one version of the Arabic Pauline Epistles.
