Abstract
The cation distribution in congruent lithium niobate (Li0.95Nb1.011O3) is determined by combined neutron and X-ray diffraction Rietveld refinements. The final structural parameters confirm the Li-vacancy instead of the widely accepted Nb-vacancy substitution model of the average structure of lithium niobate.
