Abstract
Diffuse scattering as well as the behaviour of satellite scattering within the temperature range of phases I, II and III of RbLiSO4 were studied using elastic and inelastic neutron scattering techniques. The diffuse scattering was found to be of elastic or quasielastic origin from 430 up to 570 K. A strong temperature dependence of diffuse and satellite scattering related to the phase transitions was observed. Supposing a truly elastic nature, the intensity profiles were tentatively analysed in terms of a static disorder model. Anomalous inelastic scattering at Λ-points due to a soft mode instability could not be detected so far.
