Frey, Friedrich (1974): A packet of ideal-crystalline lamellae as neutron monochromator. In: Nuclear Instruments and Methods, Bd. 115, Nr. 1: S. 277-284

Abstract

A monochromator system consisting of perfect silicon crystal lamellae is described. The resolution and the intensity of this lamellae-system can be controlled by choice. It can be used in plane or bent configuration. In case of bent lamellae, some criteria are given for the validity of the dynamical theory of diffraction by bent lattices. In a number of experiments (X-rays’ γ-radiation and neutrons), plane and bent lamellae and lamellae-systems are studied. The experimental results prove that packets of lamellae are well suited as neutron monochromators.
