Abstract

The article is devoted to the creative process of Mikhail Lermontov that is analyzed in its medial materiality using the concept of the “writing scene” by Rüdiger Campe. The early working notebooks of Lermontov combine his literary drafts with the notes typical of a classic notebook or a diary. Such a practice of not dividing different types of notes between different writing-books and incorporating all of them into a larger creative context could be defined as a syncretism. The similar tendency was also found in the last manuscript of Lermontov – in the notebook that was given him by Vladimir Odoyevsky.
