Abstract
Katalog zur gleichnamigen Ausstellung im Museum Fünf Kontinente in München. Neun Studierende des Instituts für Ethnologie der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität befassten sich ein Jahr lang intensiv mit Bildbeständen des Museums aus unterschiedlichen Zeiten, Regionen und Kontexten: Fotografien von Ethnologen, Reisenden, kolonialen Akteuren und Fotostudios. In den Blick genommen werden dabei unter anderem die Hintergründe der Enstehung, die sich wandelnden Bedeutungszuschreibungen und die Beschaffenheit der Bilder selbst.
