Abstract
In the current discourse, there is an increasing demand that religious education should promote a capacity to judge and act in the context of worldwide problems. To what extent may the promotion of these capacities be oriented towards normative goals? And how can the social complexity of global issues be dealt with? Both matters have been discussed in the debate on global education. This article derives impulses from the different theoretical positions in global education to dealing with global issues from a religious point of view: Religious education should initiate a free reflection on worldwide problems - on the foundation of a Christian concept of justice within a politically dimensioned education.
