Abstract

1993 marked the beginning of CI provision for deaf children of deaf parents. The situation of these children and their parents is a recurring research topic within the Munich Research Program "Deaf Parents and CI Children", in operation since 2000. A component of this study is subtitled "The Family Situation of Deaf Parents with CI Children". One of the findings of this study is that these so-called Coda (Children of Deaf Adults), assume the role of interpreter for their parents.
